W.I.T - Hold Me Touch Me (Blackstrobe remix)

This record takes me back to when I was 18. I had such a big crush on all three of these girls that I bought the cd even though I already owned the record. Just cause the cd had their picture, lol.

Mynx - I'm So LA

"My sunglasses match the cociane tray I'm so LA!"... Great tune from Mynx that is the theme song for anyone living in Los Angeles! Fun lyrics and just a great feel good party anthem. Classic electroclash/Indie rock with a great combination of Indie dance rock sound and simple synth loops that just work great together. This track came out back in 2004 and I feel like the band didn't get enough credit or exposure that they deserved. Well, for those of you that didn't get a chance to check them out, here is Mynx with "I'm So LA". If you like and I know you will, support them and see what they are up to these days.

Queen of Japan - I Was Made For Loving You

Ok, so I'm not exactly a huge fan of the classic rock band KISS, I mean don't get me wrong they are great at what they do, just personally not my cup of tea. On that note, KISS song, "I was made for Lovin' You" (awesome song by the way) was covered by by Queen of Japan a few years ago and ohhhhhh boy! Great job at taking a classic rock song and while not totally straying away from the original formula, they definitely set their version apart. The original version by KISS is undoubtedly a timless classic, but Queen of Japan's cover is quality electroclash and synth pop at its finest. I love that the tune is danceable and club friendly, yet has a romantic and slightly dark undertone feel to it. It is a great song I feel that anyone can appreciate. They have a few other cover songs on this same record (entitled "Headrush") that don't really grab my attention, but this song made it worth the purchase. If you dig it, support Queen of Japan by buying their work.

Bellatronica - The Walk (The Cure cover)

As I mentioned before, The Cure is my favoirate band so I am a pretty tough critic when it comes to remixes and covers. This cover of The Walk by Bellatronica is definately the type of remix or cover that deserves a tip of the hat. Great tune!!! Her voice is sexy and soothing, her slite accent makes the lyrics hot, the synths are redone with an almost Nintendo feel, but manages not to sound cheezy, it's the perfect storm!! Much love to Bellatronica for doing The Cure and herself great justice with this quality tune. Support her music and enjoy this gem.

Virus vs The Cure - Love Song (Infectious mix)

The Cure is my all time favorite band so I am pretty hard to please whenever someone puts a remix or cover of one of their tunes, but dammmmmmn! Virus really impressed me on this remix. He kept the strings from the original song and keeps them looping in the background of the record, re-did the synths with a harder feel, and I'm pretty sure he re-did the vocals himself with a little distortion (and that's no easy task with Robert Smith's unique voice). This is the best Love Song remix I've herd, much better than the popular josh patrick remix, and definately a must have. It is an extremely rare and out of print record, and is pressed on what I think is probably a bootleg label cataloged as BSTAR-05. Enjoy!

PunX SoundCheck - The Damned Don't Cry (Visage cover)

This is such a great song and is an awesome remake of 80's New Romantic band, Visage. I usually don't like 80s cover songs, but PunX SoundCheck really nailed this one on the head. They took this song and made it their own with out straying too far from the original formula. It has a dark undertone with driving synths and bass making it a dance song, yet still gives a sense of melancholy. It's brilliant! Definately a must have for any 80s music or electro fan.

Nukleon - Home Wrecker

This is by far my favorite Nukleon track. It has a Morrissey gone synth pop sound to it making enjoyable for Moz fans and electronic music fans alike (the guy even looks kind of like Morrissey). Quality music definately worth checking out. If you like the song, make sure you support Nukleon by purchasing some of his other work.

Soviet - Commute

I first came across this band when I ordered my "Living on Video" DVD. (Great music videos by the way). This is a great track off of Soviet's "We are Eyes, We are Builders" album. Reminds me of 80s synth pop bands like Camouflage and Red Flag. Down load the tune and buy the album. Definately an electroclash classic every music lover needs to have.

Mount Sims - Hate Fuck and Good Service

Golden Boy feat. Miss Kittin - Rippin Kittin (tobi neumann mix)

I still remember the first time the sound of "electroclash" tickled my ear drums and I had absolutely no clue in hell what this music was other than it sounded like my uncle's old 80s records, but with roaring synth riffs and deep bass lines. I was at a rave in downtown LA inside the Orion at an event called "Spectrum". I went to this rave originally to see British hard dance heavy weights, the Organ Donors and Rachel Auburn, to hear some banging UK Hard House in Los Angeles. Dj Keoki, although was not a pull for me at the time, was also on the line-up and ended up stealing the show when he started playing this strange kind of New Wavey techno that I had never heard before. He dropped a remix of Step By Step by Divine, the Sunglasses At Night tune by Tiga and Zynthasaurus along with so many more songs that later would become the sounds that helped to establish the genre. It was definately a great intro to electro and my taste in music would be forever changed. He ended his set with this remix of Golden Boy & Miss Kittin that just drove the crowd nuts! Still gives me chills when I listen to it. Rare and out of print, here is the re-mix of this classic electroclash anthem. Ripped from the white label vinyl promo pressing on MKRK OO1.
