Dj Isaac - Face Down Ass up (12 inch rip)

Face down ass up, thats the way we like to fuck!!! A definate tune from electronic music history! Another dj/producer from the Netherlands none other than Hard Core / Hard Style / Hard House maniac Dj Isaac. This tune was popular in the US Hard House scene as well as the rave scene and is still a banger to this day. I dare you not want to dance to this bad boy!! Dj Isaac has a ton of other records out ranging from Gabber to Hard Style. If you like this classic tune, and I know you do, support his other work. Enjoy!

Used & Abused (formerly DutchBoy) - Hard Bass / Hard Style 2001/2002 Underground Culture mix

Now known as Used & Abused, Leo "Dutch Boy" Corson, has been and conintues to be a staple in aggresive electronic dance music not only in So Cal but in the world. I'm not as into raves as I was when I was younger but I continue to hear of his named booked for events solo, or with one of his other music acts such as Used & Abused or Baco Brothers. He gave me this mix when he ran his record shop on Melrose called "Underground Culture" 6 or 7 years ago. It really is a shame that his shop went under, he was always a great guy to me and my friend Cro when we would go record shopping there. I remember when he gave me the Cd but I'm not sure if it was 2001 or 2002. He came out of the back of the store and told me he had just finished his new mix. He wrote with a marker on a blank Cd "Hard Bass / Hard Style". This mix is dark and banging German and Dutch Hard Style!! I'm not sure of the track listing though. Visit his myspace and see what he's up to these days! http://www.myspace.com/usedandabusedla

Dj Paul E Live @ Blue Afterhours 2001

This Cd was given to me by dj Paul-E (biohazard, LA) back in 2001 for my B-day when he use to work at the Vinyl Fetish record shop in Silver Lake (not the one off Melrose). I'll upload the image a little later. He only made 1000 of these bad boys. It's a mix of Progressive House and Trance that really takes me back and is a great progression from deep to banging. It was recorded live that same year at Blue Afterhours in Hollywood. He was a Los Angeles favorite Rave dj (and was a large influence on me) back in those days and this is a perfect example of a Paul-E set back in those rave times of Tekno Klub, Q-topia, Orion, Masterdome, Fox and so on. Look him up and show him some love! http://www.myspace.com/paulnassaney. Enjoy!

Queen of Japan - I Was Made For Loving You

Ok, so I'm not exactly a huge fan of the classic rock band KISS, I mean don't get me wrong they are great at what they do, just personally not my cup of tea. On that note, KISS song, "I was made for Lovin' You" (awesome song by the way) was covered by by Queen of Japan a few years ago and ohhhhhh boy! Great job at taking a classic rock song and while not totally straying away from the original formula, they definitely set their version apart. The original version by KISS is undoubtedly a timless classic, but Queen of Japan's cover is quality electroclash and synth pop at its finest. I love that the tune is danceable and club friendly, yet has a romantic and slightly dark undertone feel to it. It is a great song I feel that anyone can appreciate. They have a few other cover songs on this same record (entitled "Headrush") that don't really grab my attention, but this song made it worth the purchase. If you dig it, support Queen of Japan by buying their work.

Bellatronica - The Walk (The Cure cover)

As I mentioned before, The Cure is my favoirate band so I am a pretty tough critic when it comes to remixes and covers. This cover of The Walk by Bellatronica is definately the type of remix or cover that deserves a tip of the hat. Great tune!!! Her voice is sexy and soothing, her slite accent makes the lyrics hot, the synths are redone with an almost Nintendo feel, but manages not to sound cheezy, it's the perfect storm!! Much love to Bellatronica for doing The Cure and herself great justice with this quality tune. Support her music and enjoy this gem.

Virus vs The Cure - Love Song (Infectious mix)

The Cure is my all time favorite band so I am pretty hard to please whenever someone puts a remix or cover of one of their tunes, but dammmmmmn! Virus really impressed me on this remix. He kept the strings from the original song and keeps them looping in the background of the record, re-did the synths with a harder feel, and I'm pretty sure he re-did the vocals himself with a little distortion (and that's no easy task with Robert Smith's unique voice). This is the best Love Song remix I've herd, much better than the popular josh patrick remix, and definately a must have. It is an extremely rare and out of print record, and is pressed on what I think is probably a bootleg label cataloged as BSTAR-05. Enjoy!

PunX SoundCheck - The Damned Don't Cry (Visage cover)

This is such a great song and is an awesome remake of 80's New Romantic band, Visage. I usually don't like 80s cover songs, but PunX SoundCheck really nailed this one on the head. They took this song and made it their own with out straying too far from the original formula. It has a dark undertone with driving synths and bass making it a dance song, yet still gives a sense of melancholy. It's brilliant! Definately a must have for any 80s music or electro fan.

Club Caviar - Game Over (Original mix)

I first heard this record dropped by Thomas Micheal and Jon Bishop in the same night, back in 2001 at a party in some bowling alley (went to this venue for a couple events but for the life of me, can't remember the name). The next day I gathered what little money I had and rushed, my then broke teenager ass, to DMC records on Melrose (RIP, you are missed), and swooped it up. I remember being so excited to add it to my record collection. Ahhh, to be young, haha! Here it is, fresh from my turntable to your computer.... A Tripoli Tax banger from back in the days! If you're into to Uk hard house, support this label although I'm not sure if they still exist.

Mike & Charlie - I Get Live (Fatboy Slim mix) & FatBoy Slim Star 69

Pulled an old record off the shelf a couple hours ago and it was none other than Mike & Charlie's I Get Live with Fatboy Slim on remix duty. I bought this record back in 2001 and it reminds me of the LA rave scene back at that time. Well listening to this track over again brings back some great memories and I feel like this track would hit just as hard with a crowd today in 2008 as it did almost a decade ago! This song also reminded me of the old Fatboy Slim tune Star 69, that has a similar feel to it and mixes great together. Great tunes, "Bomb bomb bomb bomb!" and "They know what is what but they don't know what is what, they just strut.... what the fuck!". Classic tunes! I dug up the records, hit them with some gruv glide, and only see it fitting to post these two tracks together. Not sure what Mike & Charlie are doing these days but if you like this tune make sure you buy some of their work and definitely support and buy some Fatboy Slim records. Orion circa 2001 anyone?

Nukleon - Home Wrecker

This is by far my favorite Nukleon track. It has a Morrissey gone synth pop sound to it making enjoyable for Moz fans and electronic music fans alike (the guy even looks kind of like Morrissey). Quality music definately worth checking out. If you like the song, make sure you support Nukleon by purchasing some of his other work.

Soviet - Commute

I first came across this band when I ordered my "Living on Video" DVD. (Great music videos by the way). This is a great track off of Soviet's "We are Eyes, We are Builders" album. Reminds me of 80s synth pop bands like Camouflage and Red Flag. Down load the tune and buy the album. Definately an electroclash classic every music lover needs to have.

Golden Boy feat. Miss Kittin - Rippin Kittin (tobi neumann mix)

I still remember the first time the sound of "electroclash" tickled my ear drums and I had absolutely no clue in hell what this music was other than it sounded like my uncle's old 80s records, but with roaring synth riffs and deep bass lines. I was at a rave in downtown LA inside the Orion at an event called "Spectrum". I went to this rave originally to see British hard dance heavy weights, the Organ Donors and Rachel Auburn, to hear some banging UK Hard House in Los Angeles. Dj Keoki, although was not a pull for me at the time, was also on the line-up and ended up stealing the show when he started playing this strange kind of New Wavey techno that I had never heard before. He dropped a remix of Step By Step by Divine, the Sunglasses At Night tune by Tiga and Zynthasaurus along with so many more songs that later would become the sounds that helped to establish the genre. It was definately a great intro to electro and my taste in music would be forever changed. He ended his set with this remix of Golden Boy & Miss Kittin that just drove the crowd nuts! Still gives me chills when I listen to it. Rare and out of print, here is the re-mix of this classic electroclash anthem. Ripped from the white label vinyl promo pressing on MKRK OO1.
